Low Light Reactive Carbine

Low Light Reactive Carbine is a 5 hour course which will introduce the student to the concepts and tactics of shooting in the dark, with and without the use of artificial light sources. This course is conducted during evening hours and includes a night shoot. This course has a pre-requisite: Reactive Carbine Fundamentals or equivalent training is required.
This course will cover the following
  • The physiology of night fighting
  • Proper techniques for employing a carbine mounted light
  • Proper techniques for employing a hand held light with a carbine
  • The standard response with an artificial light source
  • Multiple targets and tactical order of engagement
  • Forward and rearward movement
  • Situational awareness and conflict avoidance

Any carbine is acceptable but the class is geared primarily around an AR type rifle in 5.56mm or 300 Blackout. Weapon mounted lights for the longgun are required.  A service size handgun in 9mm caliber or larger is recommended. Weapon mounted lights for the handgun are optional but a hand held light is required.

The student will need the following
  • Carbine with sling and weapon mounted light
  • Heavy duty handgun
  • 200 rounds of practice ammunition for carbine (round counts can be adjusted as needed)
  • 50 rounds of practice ammunition for handgun
  • Three carbine magazines, two pistol magazines
  • Strong side holster and magazine pouches
  • A flashlight with push button switch and spare batteries
  • Hearing and wrap around eye protection
  • Hat and full coverage shirts and shoes (no tank tops, low cut shirts, sandals or flip flops)
  • Knee and elbow pads are optional
  • Rain gear for inclement weather
