Mid Range Reactive Carbine

Mid-Range Reactive Carbine

Mid-range Reactive Carbine is a 9 hour course on fighting with the 5.56mm carbine from close quarters out to 100 yards. This class will also explore the use of the Low-Powered Variable Optic (LPVO) as both an information gathering tool as well as an aid to improved shooting. This is a skill building class and the student will be expected to be proficient in the basic operations of their weapons.

This course will cover the following
  • Safety and med brief
  • The standard response
  • Multiple targets and tactical order of engagement
  • Threat identification
  • Sling and carry considerations
  • Tactical and speed reloads
  • Positional shooting
  • Situational awareness and conflict avoidance
The student will need the following
  • Carbine with sling and ammunition carrying system and at least three magazines
  • Low-Powered Variable Optic (LPVO) is strongly recommended
  • 350 rounds of practice ammunition minimum (round counts can be adjusted as needed)
  • Heavy duty handgun, 50 rounds of ammunition
  • Two magazines or speedloaders (minimum) for the handgun
  • Strong side holster and magazine / speedloader pouch for the handgun
  • Hearing and wrap around eye protection
  • Hat, sunscreen, and full coverage shirts and shoes (no tank tops, low cut shirts, sandals or flip flops)
  • Knee and elbow pads are optional
  • Rain gear for inclement weather
This course is designed around the 5.56mm AR-15/ M4 type carbine with LPVO. However, any functional, safe carbine will be acceptable.
